Frequently Asked Questions

When can I expect my order?

After we receive your order, we will contact you to schedule a date for delivery/collection. At this time our production is limited, so advanced scheduling is necessary to help us provide reliable service to our customers. We will continue to strive for better and better service as this endeavor develops!

How do I pay for my order?

Right now we accept online payments via credit cards and debit cards.  Other contact-less payments can be arranged with us using Venmo or Google Pay. We hope to add more payment options in the future and will update this information when that happens. We do not accept cash or check transactions at this time.

All notifications, correspondence, and invoices are electronic. If you would like a paper invoice, you may request one when arranging for delivery/collection.

How do I arrange for delivery or collection of my order?

Once you submit your order, we will contact you and make arrangements for delivery/collection.  We deliver to addresses in South Haven, Kalamazoo and areas within that East/West corridor (see contact us page for delivery area map).  If you live outside of the delivery range or prefer to collect your order yourself you may arrange to do so at one of our collection points: Bloomingdale, South Haven, Kalamazoo, or Monterey Center.  You can find more information about these locations on the Contact page. We cannot ship bread to you.

If for some reason you cannot accommodate the arrangements made for your order delivery or collection, please let us know 24 hours prior and we will pause your order and make other arrangements.  If it is within 24 hours, let us know as soon as you can.  If production of your order has not begun we can pause your order.  If it has begun, we will try to make other delivery/collection arrangements with you.

Unfortunately, if you miss your collection time we will not be able to refund your deposit.

What steps are you taking to combat COVID-19?

We are taking the current pandemic seriously and have specific practices in place to keep our customers and our staff safe.

  • We do not accept cash transactions; only contactless credit/debit card, Venmo, or Google Pay transactions.

  • At delivery/collection, we ask that masks be worn by all parties and safe social distancing practiced.

What if there is a mistake or problem with my order?

We know how maddening this can be, so we always use a two-step verification to confirm your order. First we will send you a copy of your order via email and then we will confirm your order when arranging delivery/collection.  If there is still a problem or you are dissatisfied with your order, you need only email us and let us know (be sure to include your order number and nature of the problem).  We will send you either a credit memo that will apply to your next order or send a refund using one of the payment options mentioned above.

Can I request items that are not on your website?

We definitely welcome discussions about possibilities! But keep in mind that we are a new “cottage industry,” so custom orders can difficult at this time. As we develop, we hope to add custom ordering as well as catering services. Currently we do collaborate with Tiffany’s Wine and Spirits in Kalamazoo on catering projects. For more information contact the General Manager, Ain Sul, at annasul@aatiffany.com

Are your breads labeled?

Your invoice will include all required labeling information as directed by the Michigan Cottage Food Law.

What is your sourdough “mother”?

Our sourdough mother (the source of all our sourdough bread leavening), Roger Williams, was developed right here on Baseline Road. So it is 100% local wild yeast. Roger Williams is known for his founding of Rhode Island Colony and his opposition to New England Puritan theology and practices in the 17th century. Through my grandfather Grant Pearson, who was born across the road from where this sourdough was started, I am a direct descendant of Roger Williams. A fitting local tribute to the leavening of our community! Unfortunately Roger is not ready for prime time yet but we will add him to the website when he is.
